Fellow Scouters:
Well summer camp has come and gone along with Philmont, popcorn, and Conclave. I hope everyone had fun because it’s time to start thinking about summer camp 2010. This last year Camp Dierks expanded its program in a few key areas and as a result we had a 25% increase in attendance at camp. One area that was expanded was the Aquatics program. They awarded the following MB and BSA awards for the 09 season:
BSA Lifeguard 6
Canoeing 31
Swimming 74
Rowing 13
Lifesaving 21
BSA Kayaking 24
Whitewater 11
The Whitewater program kicked off this year at camp Dierks and it was a huge success for NeTseO Trails. The Army Corps of Engineers played a major part in the program by providing the whitewater needed at a time during the year when fast-flowing water is hard to find.
Expansion of the Aquatics program will only happen with the help of volunteers ages 16 thru 106. The scouts, scouters and camp staff who attended this year were excited about all the new programs. We need to keep the momentum going and the interest high.
There will be a one of a kind 2 hr. meeting with a 30 minute break out session:
